CORRESPONDENCE:  My father Truman O'Quinn Melcher M.D. served at Camp Fannin as post doctor beginning in 1943 or 44.  He was given a cedar carving made by the prisoners of a well known art work depicting a  large dog who had saved a small boy from the sea. It is signed on the back by a number of prisoners who had benefited from his care. I was an infant at the time and I remember the jubilation at the end of the war. If anyone remembers my dad, please let me know.
