TRAINING: He volunteered in Davenport, Iowa. He was in the 67th Training Battalion from August '44 until Dec. '44, which was part of the 14th Training Regiment at the time. They left for home on the 23rd of Dec. and had to report back to the nearest government airport to our home by Jan. 1st. They flew many of them from Kansas City to Ft. George G. Meade Maryland and then on to Camp Miles Standish outside of Boston. They boarded the ILe De France and in less than 30 days from home he was on the front line with the 94th Inf. Div. in Europe.
He was a Business Manager for a 300-bed hospital in Davenport for 30 years. He has a wife of 54 years, 4 grown children - three sons and one daughter. He plays golf, travels, and does volunteer work for needy causes. |
