TRAINING:

He was a Infantry Replacement Soldier
His first replacement assignment was on 11/08/44 with the 110th Infantry, 28th Division, Company C, in the bloody Hurtgen Forest.  He died in a cold muddy foxhole on a battle scarred German hillside a few hundred yards southwest of the village of Simonskall on 11/14/44.

For more information please look at www.icanhearthegunsnow.com or you can contact me at tdratliff@siscom.net.    That website is about the book I wrote about my father's time in World War II.  Forty one of the letters in the book were written during his basic training at Camp Fannin.
Respectfully,
Thomas G. Ratliff
