TRAINING:  Company A, 82nd Training Battalion from July 1945 to December 1945 at Camp Fannin in Tyler, Texas. 

SERVICE:  I was with Company "A", (field linemen 641), third platoon (hut 6 ), 82nd Battalion, 15TH Regiment
I was a Chicagoan who was inducted at Ft. Sheridan, Illinois then sent on to Camp Fannin four days later on a troop train with about two hundred other GI's   At Camp Fannin our training cycle of 17 weeks began in July 1945 and ended in December 1945. I began with D Co,57th Bn, 12th Regt but for some reason I was transferred to communications company, A/82/15 and had to repeat a couple of weeks with them.   After completing our training and a ten day delay enroute to visit family, I reported to Camp Pickett, Virginia where several other Camp Fannin buddies were.  We were issued new equipment and shipped out to Europe the day after Christmas.
